Rain, rain, and rain!

January 6, 2008

It has been raining really hard these past couple of days, especially at night. On Friday night, I was driving home, and it was raining so hard I could barely see where I was going…in a 50 zone, I was going literally 35-40. And there was no one on the streets… But I guess it’s good to get some rain here since we never really do, even though I despise the rain.

Anyhow, today, I got my ears pierced. Yes, I am 18 and just a day ago, I still never had my ears pierced. I’ve always wanted to, but my mother told me not to until I was older, because her ears got infected pretty badly. I guess she just had a bad experience. But it never really bothered me a lot that my ears weren’t pierced, although I always envied people who got to wear pretty earrings. But now I guess I will too, soon!

So, on New Year’s Eve, I went out with my family and we went to a nice hotel to have drinks. My dad was already pretty drunk, but he likes to drink to relax (and no, he is not an alcoholic, but maybe you’ll think that he is, after this story..heh). But he was getting pretty loud and obnoxious (but all in good spirit), except my sister was annoyed and told him to stop drinking. She ended up blowing air out of her straw at his shirt, and some water came out of the straw. That was out of line, even in my opinion. Anyhow, he ended up getting really mad and decided (in his drunk state) to start yelling at her about how my sister was making him out to be “an evil drunk” even though he “wasn’t drunk.” Long story short, he embarrassed all of us, and my sister, my best friend, and I took a walk and didn’t go back until we were leaving.

My dad still hasn’t talked to my sister, and I didn’t realize I did anything wrong (…I didn’t..) until I realized he was (and still is) giving me the cold shoulder. What the hell. I did nothing wrong. What bullshit. It’s ridiculous, and he needs to get over himself.

I’m happy you got your piercing… I want to get a second hole.. But mi madre won’t allow it… Grrh, mothers!! Maybe your dad felt hurt since you were embarrassed… And alcohol surely does make you relaxed, lol. Just a small drop puts me in the mood for a nap =D!

oh, I went through the same thing with my mother - she refused to let me pierce my ears, but one day I did it anyway - you should have seen the look on her face. The look you imagine a mother will only give her daughter if she says she’s dropping out of school to work as a prostitute. Even now, five years later she still gets mad en we discuss it saying I ‘betrayed her’.. hm.

First off I would like to say I love the name of your site. It’s different and I love different.
That’s cool that you got your ears pierced. I had mine done when I was younger with my mom with me, so she never made me wait.
I have had my tongue, ears, lip and eye. Right now I only have my eye ring in. I’m into them I guess you could say. I guess it’s better than tattoo’s . I remember the day’s of my dad giving me the cold shoulder when he was mad at the world. I would give it some time and if he still acts like way ask him about.

Yay for getting your ears pierced. Did it hurt at all? I’ve had mine done several times and it hurt the second time getting them done. SOO MUCH. lol

Parents will always act in ways that never make any sense. Perhaps your father was angry as to the fact that you didn’t stand up for him? I don’t know. I haven’t read the new posts yet because I didn’t know there were any! I thought I was subscribed to you because my reader says “Roz,” but that was to C-C.com instead. Lol.

Getting your ears pierced is kind of a fun event. I had my first piercings done way back when I was a kid. I had to get them re-pierced a few years later when one of the holes closed up. Then on my 18th, I went over to Zebra (next to Amoeba) and got my second lobe done. I like going there for lobes because it’s cheap and clean ($25 including studs and service). Then I went… a year ago and got my third lobe piercing done. I know, excess. Lol. But yay! You get to wear pretty earrings in about six months! Taking care of it is a bitch though. By the third piercing, I just got lazy and made sure it was clean by swabbing it.
